How long do withdrawals take to process?

For electronic funds transfers to a bank account: After you make the withdrawal request online, it typically takes 3 business days for the funds to show up in your bank account. For fastest processing, submit your withdrawal request online prior to 4pm ET, and avoid weekends and holidays. During periods of market volatility and at year-end, withdrawals may take longer to be completed. 

For check withdrawals, checks are typically mailed out within 2 business days after you submit the withdrawal request online. For fastest processing, submit your request online prior to 4pm ET, and avoid weekends and holidays. Please remember that check delivery times may take 7–10 business days and may vary due to external factors such as extreme weather. You can monitor the status of your check withdrawal from inside your account portal. To do so, please:

  1. Log in to your account online.
  2. Open the “Transfers" tab from the horizontal menu option and select Transaction History
  3. Review your contributions, investment activity, and any withdrawals or transfers that have been processed or are still pending.

Withdrawal Holds

Please note that for security purposes, there will be a 15-day hold on check withdrawals after you change your address on record. 

There is also a 10-day hold on ACH transfer withdrawals after you change your banking information. 

If you try to make a withdrawal during a holding period, the transaction will not go through. Please request your withdrawal again once the hold period is over.
